Warm intros

Find the referral you didn’t know you had

Applying cold is the slow path. inrole maps your network against every role and ranks the warmest way in.

The graph

One ranking, three networks

Most job tools stop at alumni. inrole resolves your own connections, your alumni networks, and the portfolios of the VCs you follow into a single list per role, then traces the path from you through a mutual to the hiring team.

  • Direct connections, second-degree paths, and the strength of each
  • Every path shown end to end, so you know who to actually ask
  • Rebuilt per role, because the right intro changes with the company

Where the intros come from

Three networks, mined separately and merged into one ranking.

Your LinkedIn graph

Upload your LinkedIn archive export. inrole maps direct connections and second-degree paths, and reads the signal in the archive itself — who messaged you, who endorsed you, who you worked alongside.

Alumni networks

Your university cross-referenced against people at the target company. A shared class or program is a real reason to reply, and it surfaces contacts your own connections never would.

VC portfolios

Name the VC ecosystems you care about and inrole surfaces the portfolio-company connections inside them. This is the layer most tools skip entirely, and it is often where the shortest path turns out to be.

Ranking

How the list gets ordered

A contact at the company is not the same as a contact who can move your application. The ranking is built on the difference.

Closeness to the hiring team

Contacts are ordered by organizational proximity to the hiring manager or the recruiter on the role, not by whether they happen to work there. A director two desks from the loop outranks a stranger in another org.

Signal badges

Every contact carries the reason they surfaced: Former Colleague, Alumni, They Messaged You, They Endorsed You. You can see why inrole ranked someone before you decide to ask them.

The drafted ask

One click writes the intro request, in your voice, grounded in that role's evaluation — so the ask names the specific reason you're a fit rather than asking for a favor in the abstract.

The ask

From ranked list to sent message

The ranking is only useful if it ends in a message. Each contact carries a drafted intro request you can read, edit, and send — or ignore, because nothing here sends itself.

  • Written in the voice captured from your own writing samples
  • Grounded in the role's evaluation, so it names a concrete fit
  • Yours to edit before it goes anywhere
